Background

Makena Barnett

Mary Lane

Makena has been singing and dancing on stage since 9 years old, this will mark her 43rd Musical and she couldn’t be happier to make her TITG debut in Reefer Madness. Some of her most recent roles include Veronica in Heathers, Lucy the Slut in Avenue and Lily Craven in the Secret Garden all at Mount Hood Community College. She’d like to thank her boyfriend, her parents, and her Dungeons and Dragons friends for always supporting her endeavors.

Annabelle Stern

Sally DeBanis

Annabelle is so thrilled to be in this production of Reefer Madness! This is her first musical, but she has been dancing and performing since she was 5 years old. She trained at Dance Theater West and Arizona School for the Arts. Annabelle graduated from Reed College in 2023 with a major in Studio Dance, and wrote her thesis on LGBTQ+ square dance. She dabbled with theatrical projects in college, sound designing for several student productions and acting in a Aaron Berlau’s original play “I Don’t Want To Be Here Anymore”. She wants to thank everyone in this fantastic cast for being so welcoming and fun to work with!

Leslie Inmon

Mae Coleman

Leslie has been in more than a handful of shows at TITG and is proud to be part of such an amazing, supportive, crazy silly cast. It’s all love and she’s over the moon for every last one of them. All love to her boys, a couple of brilliant 4 year olds, and Jer. Every tear is for Bevie and every laugh is for Michael, Viola, and Johnnie.

Nick Serrone

Jack, Jesus, George Washington

Nick Serrone is excited to be returning to the stage at Theater in The Grove! You may have recently seen him on stage at Lakewood Center for the Arts as Nick Massi in Jersey Boys, at Theater in The Grove as John Wilkes Booth in Assassins, Orin Scrivello in Little Shop of Horrors and at Broadway Rose Theatre Company as Pharaoh in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Lance Manger in Five Golden Rings. He would like to thank Rick Lewis, Bridgetown Conservatory of Musical Theatre, Cami Curtis and his Ohana for all their support in this wonderful adventure.

Athena Leonard

Placard Girl/Ensemble

Athena is doing her first musical since Hillsboro High School’s Mamma Mia just before lockdown hit. She’s both nervous and excited! She has done a few straight plays before then, portraying Jessica in Hand to God and Susan in Wait Until Dark, both at Theatre in the Grove. She loves the community gets to work with and thanks them for all the laughs, and would like to give a special thanks to Alex for all the rides to rehearsal.

Brittany Henderson

Ensemble and assistant costumer

This is my first community theatre show ever, and first show since 2007! I was so excited to audition and actually get the chance to perform on a stage I’ve been watching my dad perform on since I was a child seeing “And Then There Were None” sparking my lifelong love of live theatre. I’m even more excited to get to be in this show with him! Thank you Travis Schlegel for supporting me and helping me to get this point! I hope that my own children will catch the theatre fever, my daughter is already interested after seeing “9 to 5” and my son is already trying to have and sing before he’s even potty trained. Another special thanks to my husband for stepping up more than you already do and supporting me off stage so I can pursue this passion.

Gina Andrews

Ensemble

Gina has been performing in the Portland Theater Community for almost two decades. This is her first show with TITG and her first full production musical. She is so excited to be working with the fabulous cast and crew of Reefer Madness! May there always be many more shows to come. Break a leg everyone.

Michael (Mikey) Gross

Ensemble

Mikey is over the moon to give the audience the experience of a lifetime with this show. He is very thankful to have had the opportunity to work with such a hilarious, talented, heartfelt cast and dedicated, compassionate director. You may have seen him previously on the TiTG stage in Big Fish, Assassins, and/or Scrooge! the Musical. Buckle up, it’s gonna be a lengthy night!

Sydney Gannon

Ensemble

Sydney (they/them) is beyond excited to make their Theatre in the Grove debut in Reefer Madness. They are a recent graduate from University of Portland, where they studied communications and theatre. Some of their favorite recent roles include Mrs. Greene (The Prom), Hernando (House of Desires), and the various Shakespearean characters they’ve played as a part of Original Practice Shakespeare Festival. They would like to thank the cast and crew of Reefer Madness for this wild, smoke-filled ride, and they hope you enjoy the show.

Travis Schlegel

I'm "The Lecturer", a Concerned Citizen here to try and save our kids by directing and acting in a morality play designed to show you the "truth" about marihuana.

Travis first performed at TITG in the mid-90’s and returned several years ago for ‘A Christmas Story”. You last saw him in “Wait Until Dark”. He adores the historic theater building but truly loves the diverse, multi-talented people he’s met over the years. The devotion of TITG to diverse, equitable and inclusive casting is more vital (and more inspiring) than ever.
