About the Show:

In this cult classic, sweethearts Brad and Janet, stuck with a flat tire during a storm, discover the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. As their innocence is lost, Brad and Janet meet a houseful of wild characters, including a rocking biker and a creepy butler. Through elaborate dances and rock songs, Frank-N-Furter unveils his latest creation: a muscular man named “Rocky.”

Audition Details:
Preparation: Please prepare 32 bars (or 1 minute) of a song in a musical theatre style or in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided.

Note for those auditioning for Columbia: Please sign up for two back to back audition slots, one for your song, one for tap. Please prepare and be ready to demonstrate the following tap steps without music: Timestep (single, double, triple, and/or double-triple), wings, buffalos, and buffalo turns.

Callbacks will consist of dance auditions, singing songs and cold reading from the show.

Age Range: All actors must be 18+ years of age. This is non-negotiable.

Roles Available:

  • Brad: 20-30s A straight-laced All-American man from Denton. Fiance of Janet. Bari-Tenor Bb2-G4.
  • Janet: 20-30s An All-American girl, engaged to Brad Majors. Mezzo-Sop A3-Eb5.
  • Riff Raff: 20-40s Disgruntled Transylvanian butler. Lover/Brother of Magenta. Rock Tenor D3-B4.
  • Magenta: Disgruntled Transylvanian maid. Lover/Sister of Riff Raff. Mezzo-Sop Bb3-Eb5
  • Columbia: 20-30s- Tap-dancing rock and roll groupie. Mezzo-Sop E4-E5.TAP DANCE REQUIRED
  • Dr. Frank-N-Furter: 20s-40s A “sweet transvestite” scientist from the planet of Transsexual, located in the galaxy of Transylvania. Exudes sexual energy. Baritone D3-G4.
  • Rocky: 20-30s Hunky sex symbol creation of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. Tenor A3-G4
  • Eddie: 20-30s- Motorcycling rotten egg, perpetually finding trouble, missing half his brain. Baritone: E3-F#4. MAY DOUBLE AS DR SCOTT
  • Dr. Scott: 50s+ Mentor of Brad and Janet and uncle of Eddie. Baritone: F3-F#4. MAY DOUBLE AS EDDIE.
  • Narrator: Tells the story of debauchery. Must be great with improv as this character gets most of the abuse from a sometimes quite vocal crowd. Non-Singing Role.
  • Usherette: 20s-30s Upbeat 50s style. Usherette that starts the show, and helps runs the “devirginizing ceremony”. Opens the show with Science Fiction Double Feature. Doubles as a Phantom/ Transylvanian. Bb3-Eb5
  • Phantoms/Transylvanian: Ensemble that participates in the action at Frank-N-Furter’s mansion, as well as being phantoms that help build the locations for the story.

Background Check: Theatre in the Grove background checks all members of cast and crew.
Rehearsals: Sun 5:00pm Mon-Thurs 7:00 pm. Starting July 13th
