Alicia Barrett
Alicia has been the music director for Theatre in the Grove for the last 3 musicals. She’s excited to continue exploring the different types of musicals the theatre has been producing. After having just finished Assassins she has been enjoying the contrast between that and a more light hearted Christmas musical. In addition to her work at Theatre in the Grove she has also worked with Bridgetown Conservatory of Musical Theatre as music director/pianist for In Pieces and music directing their summer camp. She also runs her own studio in Hillsboro where she teaches piano lessons and is the staff pianist at Bridgetown Conservatory of Musical Theatre in Portland.
Brandon VanDyke
Brandon has performed in over 50 productions, including 19 here at TITG. Past favorites as a musician include Chicago (TITG), Big Fish (TITG), Anything Goes (Sherwood Foundation for the Arts), Annie (SFA), High Society (Tacoma Musical Playhouse), and The Scarlet Pimpernel (TMP), while favorites as orchestra director include The King and I (TITG), Oklahoma! (TITG), and The Addams Family (SFA). Brandon is excited to play his first show together with his daughters on stage in The Little Mermaid.
David Massey
David Massey (pit orchestra, reeds), has been performing/directing pit orchestras in musical theater on clarinets and saxophones for over 30 years. Some of his all-time favorite shows include: Chicago, The Full Monty (TITG); 42nd Street, Footloose (Glencoe HS); and Fiddler on the Roof (multiple venues). Thank you to TITG for having live musicians for their musicals!
Ethan Schwanz
Ethan Schwanz is playing with Theater in the Grove for the first time, and “9 to “5 is also his first time performing in a musical! He is based in Southeast Portland, and was a member of the Oregon State University Wind Ensemble from 2012-2014. Ethan has recently been playing in the Tabor Wind Ensemble at Warner Pacific University, and is excited to have the opportunity to help bring you this show! He wants to thank his wife, family, and cat for their support.
James Ross
James Ross is excited to be performing the drum kit for 9 to 5! He is currently a student at PCC and has taken up musical theatre as a side passion. This will be his 3rd overall production in pit orchestra, with this show being his second with Theatre in the Grove. Preparing for this show has been a blast and such a creative endeavor that he is thankful to be apart of. Best of luck to everybody!
Joel Redwine
After pounding the drums for more than three decades, from rocking cruise ships and dive bars to thrilling live theater shows, he’s got a beat for every occasion! With a musical background as diverse as a mixed tape, he can groove to any beat, laying down a solid foundation to amp up any tune! Originally from Forest Grove, he holds a deep admiration for Theatre in the Grove and considers it an honor to be part of such a meaningful community.
