Theatre in the Grove is excited to highlight actor Dennis Reilly, who’ll be portraying the ghost of Jacob Marley in our upcoming production of Scrooge! The Musical, opening on December 1st.
Reilly has been acting for 7 decades (impressive!). “I’m a storyteller, and I love the opportunity theatre provides as a venue to do just that.” When it comes to Scrooge, he appreciates its story of “a life changed, a new start, a ‘Scroog-ed’ life.”
He thinks audiences “will most enjoy the way this well-known story is told with a unique emphasis to some of the relationships,” he said, and “you may not be able to get some of the songs out of your head.”
What he likes best about his character is that “Jacob Marley is the oldest friend and perhaps the only friend of Ebeneezer Scrooge. Jacob Marley is doing what good friends do, challenge their friends on how they live their lives and hopefully redirect that life to an eternal destiny.”
When it comes to his own family’s holiday traditions, nothing beats the classic of baking and sharing cookies. What will Reilly be drinking for a little holiday cheer? “Hot spiced cider,” he said. “Non-alcoholic.”
