About the Show:

Ever wondered what would happen if you took Bram Stoker’s legendary vampire tale and put it into a blender with Mel Brooks, Monty Python, and The 39 Steps? That’s just what happens in this lightning-fast, laugh-out-loud, 90-minute romp. When her sister Mina falls ill with a mysterious disease of the blood, Lucy Westfeldt and her fiancé, Jonathan Harker, enlist the help of famed female vampire hunter Doctor Jean Van Helsing. Their hunt for the dangerous and sexy Count Dracula abounds with clever wordplay and quick-change antics. Five actors play over a dozen roles in this bloodcurdling hilarious send-up of the literary classic.

Audition Details:

Preparation: Auditions will consist of cold reading from the script. Audition sides will be provided upon arrival. Headshot and resume appreciated but not required.

Age Range: All actors must be 18+ years of age.

A Note About Casting: All genders, ethnicities, body types, and backgrounds will be considered during casting. Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors sends up gender norms, and embraces sexiness of all types. Sexy is subjective and it’s about exuding a presence not having to fit a physical stereotype or norm.

Roles Available:

  • Actor One: Harker / Suitors / Bosun / Gravedigger
  • Actor Two: Dr. Westfeldt / Renfield / Captain
  • Actor Three: Lucy / Kitty/ Driver
  • Actor Four: Mina / Van Helsing
  • Actor Five: Dracula
  • Count Dracula: Romanian Dialect – Sexy, rockstar presence. Narcissist whose greatest love is himself and his leather pants.
  • Jonathan Harker: British Dialect – Prim and proper obsessive compulsive real-estate agent, easily frightened.
  • Lucy Westfeldt: British Dialect – Brilliant, plucky, earth scientist daughter of Dr. Westfeldt. Full of energy and the spirit of adventure and often underestimated due to her beauty.
  • Mina Westfeldt: British Dialect – The less “attractive” less intelligent Westfeldt daughter, she lives in her sister Lucy’s shadow, and is desperate for attention.
  • Dr. Westfeldt: British Dialect – Lucy and Mina’s father…a blowhard, self important misogynist given to proclamations and posturing.
  • Dr. Van Helsing: German dialect ala Mel Brooks – Brilliant and sturdy German vampire-hunting doctor. Deadly serious. She is accustomed to people not believing she is a real doctor. Strong, smart and bold. She is a woman of action.
  • Renfield: Cockney Dialect – Insane patient of Dr. Westfeldt who lives to serve and loves to eat bugs.
  • Kitty Rutherford: Cockney Dialect – A dotty klepto patient of Dr. Westfeldt. She serves as the maid in the house.
