Announcing Performance Camp for 8-12 year olds!

We’re excited to announce that we’re expanding CAST this year to include 8-12 year olds.  For this age group, camp is half-days the first week and then full days the second week.

Camp Auditions

This year students must audition for admittance to the camp. These auditions will be held April 12-13.  Students can sign up for auditions at https://signup.com/go/FcgfBTJ

For the 13-18 age group, students will sign up for a 5 min audition slot on April 12 or 13 and should prepare 1 min of a musical theatre song, with a backing/karaoke track (providing their own wireless speaker for the audition).

For the 8-12 age group, auditions are April 13 from 2PM – 4PM. Students need not prepare anything for the audition! Students will show up April 13 at 2:00pm and we will teach a small section of music, and have students interact with each other on stage, and maybe even read small bits from the play!

Role Auditions June 25 – 28

After students are admitted to the camp, they will need to do a second set of auditions for specific roles in late June. After casting, they will receive their materials so they have time to begin learning their part. Once students audition for their role no refunds for the camp will be given.

Costs

The two week camp costs $350 per student.  Full and partial scholarships are available. Limited quantity available.

Q: My family can’t afford this camp. Are scholarships available?

A: Yes! Scholarship information will be available in April.

Q: Can my child attend both the Performance Camp and the Tech Camp?

A. Yes. However, each camp has its own camp fee and a scholarship awarded for one may not necessarily be awarded to the other.

Q: My child doesn’t have any theater/acting/singing/dancing experience. Are they able to attend?

A: Yes! This camp is about learning, so we expect that some of our campers will be completely new to this.

Q: My child is under 8. Does that mean they cannot attend?

A: Unfortunately, yes.  We have expanded camp this year to include 8-12 year olds, but we cannot admit younger children to this camp.

Q: We have a vacation scheduled during part of the camp. Can my child still attend?

A: Unfortunately, no.  This is an intensive 2 week camp and requires ever camper present every day as well as for the performances.

Q: My child is only interested in lights/sound/set construction aspects of theatre. Which camp is for them?

A: If your child isn’t interested in acting/performing, then the Tech Camp is more appropriate for them.

Q: Is this camp safe for my child?

A: Theatre in the Grove runs background checks on all staff and volunteers, including those involved with the production.  In addition, we have strict policies in place designed to protect our youth.

Q: What is your diversity policy?
