Cast of 9 to 5: The Musical

James W. Grimes (Franklin Hart) has been seen most recently at Theatre in the Grove as Edward Bloom in Big Fish. Other TITG roles include Sam in Mamma Mia, Dan in Next to Normal, Caleb in The Spitfire Grill, Donkey in Shrek the Musical, Jamie Wellerstein in The Last Five Years, Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls, the Emcee in Cabaret, Billy Flynn in Chicago, Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Renfield in Dracula. Roles at nearby HART include Cocky in Roar of the Greasepaint Smell of the Crowd, Paul Bratter in Barefoot in the Park, Stan in Holiday Broadcast of 1943, and Danny Zuko in Grease. James is thrilled to once again share the stage with his amazing wife, Jennifer.

Jennifer Grimes (Violet) is thrilled to be back on stage with such an incredibly talented cast and crew (including her amazing husband, James).  Favorite past roles include for TITG: Donna in Mamma Mia, Diana in Next to Normal, Shelby in The Spitfire Grill, Miss Adelaide in Guys and Dolls, and Grace in Annie. She has been seen at HART Theatre as Sr. Robert Anne in Nunsense, Nuncrackers and Nunsensations, Sally in Holiday Broadcast of 1943and Jo in Little Women.   Her most recent directing credits include Big Fish for TITG and We Are Witnesses, written by local author Jack Boas (based on the book of the same name).  When not on stage, Jennifer serves as Oregon Community Foundation’s Events Manager.  

Jessica (Missy/Ensemble)is thrilled to be in her first show with Theatre in the Grove. She is so happy to have her return to the stage since the pandemic and to be working with such a wonderful group. Favorite past shows include Next to Normal (Diana), Hunchback of Notre Dame (Gargoyle), and The Addams Family (Alice). Jessica, her husband, and two dogs moved to Oregon for Jessica to pursue a doctorate in occupational therapy, after being a special education teacher in California. She looks forward to taking part in more local theater in the years to come!

Katherine (Maria/ Ensemble) is excited to be back on the Theatre In the Grove stage. She was last seen in Assassins (Ensemble). When she’s not at Theatre In the Grove Katherine works as a historian. She dedicates her performance to anyone who has ever had a terrible boss.

Tom Swendig  is thrilled to be playing a character that everyone is going to love to hate. Tom has been a long time volunteer at TitG, and has served as a board member twice. 9 to 5 The Musical is his 3rd time on stage at Theatre in the Grove and his first ever musical. He also performed in A Christmas Carol and WWII Radio Christmas.

Wendy Bax (Margaret/Ensemble)- Wendy is happy to be performing on the TiTG stage after directing “Scrooge: The Musical” this December. Favorite past roles: Golde (Fiddler on the Roof), Vicki (The Full Monty), Lady Thiang (The King and I), Cassandra (Vanya, Sonia, Masha and Spike), Mistress Ford (Merry Wives of Windsor), Sister Amnesia (Nunsensations and Nuncrackers), Helen (The Holiday Broadcast of 1943), and Director (You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown: The Broadway Musical) – among many others.
