Summer Theatre Camps 2012

Theatre In The Grove’s Summer theatre camps have been serving young actors for over 25 years. The students meet for three and one half hours each day for two weeks.  During that time, the actors will be exploring the art of the stage through theatre games, exercises and improvisation and creating their own original play.  On the last day of the session, the theatre will hold a free public performance featuring the work of the young actors.

Schedule for Theatre in the Grove’s CAST Summer Camps 2012:

Summer Playhouse 2012

CAST Playhouse productions are open to all children, both the experienced young actors and those that have never been on stage before,  and are designed to teach theatre while giving the cast “the time of their lives”.   In addition, Playhouse productions are great affordable family entertainment at only $3 per ticket.

The Spring CAST Playhouse production , A Trio of Fairy Tales, is a new adaptation of the classic tales of Sleeping Beauty, Puss ‘n Boots, and The Shoemaker and the Elves, has been cast and is currently in rehearsal.   A Trio of Fairy Tales  performs one weekend only, Friday and Saturday, May 4 and May 5 at 7:00 and Sunday,  May 6 at 2:30.  Tickets will be available at the door one hour before show time.   All performances are in the theatre.

CAST Playhouse Summer productions:  This summer we will be doing two CAST Playhouse productions, including a musical.  To participate, actors and technicians need to apply and be accepted into the program.  Applications are available on the theatre website or at the door on the application date, 30 minutes prior.  Actors and technicians must apply in person.  Acceptance is NOT based on first come/first serve or experience.

Summer CAST Playhouse Schedule: 

The Musical production will rehearse July 9 – 19, with performances on July 20,21,27,28 at 7:00 PM and July 22 and 29 at 2:30 PM.

The Classic production will rehearse August 13-23,  with performances on August 24,25,31, & September 1 at 7:00 PM and August 26 and September 2 at 2:30 PM

To participate:  Apply in person at Theatre in the Grove on May 5 at 10:00. 

CAST Playhouse Application Summer 2012

Performance dates are June 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16 at 8:00 pm, and June 3, 10, 17 at 2:30pm.

Tickets are $14 for adults and $12 for seniors (60 & over) and youths (17 & under). Tickets are available by calling the theatre box office at 503-359-5349. The Theatre box office will open beginning May 22, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, from Noon until 3:00pm. Items to be covered in this meeting are nominations / elections of new Board of Directors positions, review of this season, and looking forward to next season.

Whether you’re a seasoned veteran of the boards or brand new to theatre, all are invited and encouraged to attend!
