Theatre In The Grove’s School
Of Theatre Arts
Theatre In The Grove offers two educational experiences YAST and School of Theatre Arts Our classes are designed
to allow even the most timid at heart to discover the joys of live
theatre in a fun, creative, supportive, and relaxed environment. From
the young to the not so young, and from the inexperienced to those
with a desire to expand their knowledge of the theatre, we have the
class for you. Class Schedule Spring 2008
For those without prior stage experience, this class is designed to acquaint the younger child with the art of theatre. With an emphasis on a supportive, non-threatening approach to performing, the students will have an opportunity to work as a group to discover the joys of the stage. Limit: 8 Wednesdays: 3:40 - 4:55 p.m. April 23 - June 11 ** Instructor: Jeanna Van Dyke
For the young actor,
this class is a first step in learning the skills of performance. Through
the use of theatre games, exercises, and improvisation, the student
will have the opportunity to learn the basics of the stage and take
the first steps to creating a role. Ages 12 to 16: Tuesdays 5:20 - 6:50 April 22 - June 10 ** Instructor: Jeanna Van Dyke
What is improv? “It’s
not about being funny. It’s about listening, responding,
and letting the comic moments take you by surprise.” This
class is designed to help you learn how to be in the moment, how to
react instead of think, and how to look good on stage by making others
look better. Actor or not, improv is a great skill to learn and
tons of fun. Loads of stage time and loads of laughs. NOTE: It
is the hope of TITG to build a regularly performing improv theatre
company. It is strongly recommended that people interested in
being a part of that company take this class. Minimum age: High
School, Middle School with special permission from instructor.
From auditions through rehearsals and on to
performance, this class is designed to provide young actors the full experience
of being in a scripted play. *The ages listed are suggested. If you have any questions about
the proper placement for your child, please call 503-359-1927. |
